This report presents the findings of a research project aimed at understanding the toxic drug poisoning crisis from the perspectives of Island Health staff. The crisis, fueled by factors like the increasing toxicity of drugs, overprescription of opioid-based pain medication, and criminalization of drugs, has led to a surge in fatalities, even among small cities and towns. The report highlights the need for more localized strategies to address the crisis effectively.
